Bajaj Auto has introduced a new motorbike called the Bajaj Freedom 125, which is the first of its kind in the world. This bike can run on petrol like regular bikes, but it can also switch to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) by pressing a button. While cars using CNG have been around for a while, this is the first motorcycle globally to use this technology. The starting price for the basic ‘Drum’ variant of this bike is Rs 95,000.

BajajAuto: You can now book the new Freedom 125 bike through Bajaj Auto’s official website or their authorized showrooms. This bike comes in three versions: NG04 Disc LED, NG04 Drum LED, and NG04 Drum. The LED models are offered in five different colors, while the non-LED Drum variant comes in two colors.

The new Bajaj Freedom 125 bike is priced as follows (ex-showroom prices):

– NG04 Disc LED: Rs 1,10,000
– NG04 Drum LED: Rs 1,05,000
– NG04 Drum: Rs 95,000

This bike is expected to make a big impact in the two-wheeler market. It runs on CNG, which can help riders save money on fuel and reduce emissions, which are important for people who own two-wheelers in India.

The bike has a small petrol tank that holds just two liters, likely intended as a backup fuel. Reports say the Bajaj Freedom 125 can travel 213 kilometers on just one kilogram of CNG, making it a very efficient choice for commuters.

During the launch event, Bajaj showcased the Freedom 125 undergoing 11 safety tests, including a ‘truck rollover test.’ This test showed that despite being crushed under the truck’s tires, the CNG tank remained intact with no change in pressure.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who attended the event, stressed the importance of reducing India’s crude oil import costs and promoting alternative fuels. He also highlighted the growth of India’s automobile industry, emphasizing its role in creating wealth and jobs. Gadkari proudly mentioned India surpassing Japan to become the third-largest automobile market and reiterated his vision to make India a five trillion-dollar economy.

The buzz around the Bajaj Freedom has mainly focused on its ability to run on both petrol and CNG. Bajaj has teased a feature where you can switch between petrol and CNG with a button on the bike. Earlier leaked designs showed a regular fuel tank with the CNG cylinder placed underneath, secured by semicircular braces welded to the main frame.

In terms of hardware, it will likely have telescopic front forks and a monoshock for suspension, and braking could be handled by a front disc and rear drum setup. However, the more affordable version might come with drum brakes on both wheels.

We expect the starting price of the Bajaj Freedom to be around Rs. 90,000, going up to Rs. 95,000 for the top model. The official launch is just hours away, so stay tuned to BikeWale for more updates!
