Chief Minister of Maharashtra, passed away today at the age of 86.
Manohar Joshi, the former Lok Sabha Speaker, was taken to PD Hinduja Hospital after suffering a heart attack on February 21 and unfortunately passed away there, according to family sources as reported by PTI. He had previously been admitted to the same hospital in May last year after a brain hemorrhage.
His family informed ANI that the funeral will take place later today at Dadar Shivaji Park Crematorium, with full state honors.
In an interview with Hindustan Times, his son Unmesh mentioned that his father was in the ICU and was being closely monitored. He experienced cardiac issues on Wednesday. Due to his age, he had been dealing with health problems for some time. The final rites will be conducted at Shivaji Park crematorium, and before that, his body will be brought to their house in Matunga.

The hospital had said that Manohar Joshi, the former Chief Minister of Maharashtra, was admitted on February 21 because he had a serious heart problem. He’s very sick and is in the ICU at P.D. Manohar Joshi was the Chief Minister of Maharashtra from 1995 to 1999. After that, he served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 2002 to 2004. He was also a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 2006 to 2012 and worked as the Minister of Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises from 1999 to 2002.
