Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with President Droupadi Murmu to ask for the 17th Lok Sabha to be officially ended.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and resigned along with his ministers. He also suggested ending the 17th Lok Sabha, ahead of the new Cabinet’s oath-taking ceremony.
The President accepted the resignation and asked PM Narendra Modi and his ministers to stay in their roles until the new government takes over.
This happened after a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday in New Delhi. The meeting, led by Modi, suggested ending the Cabinet’s term, which finishes on June 16.
The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janata Dal-United (JDU), who could play a key role, have agreed to the formation of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) government. This paves the way for Modi’s swearing-in ceremony

The TDP and JDU are expected to give official letters of support to the BJP at the alliance’s meeting later on Wednesday.
The newly elected MPs of the NDA, led by the BJP, will meet on June 7 in the national capital, according to news agency ANI. They will discuss forming the government.
The Election Commission of India has announced results for 542 out of 543 Lok Sabha constituencies. The BJP won 240 seats, which is fewer than the 303 seats it won in 2019 and 282 seats in 2014. The Congress won 99 seats, improving from 52 seats in 2019 and 44 seats in 2014. The INDIA bloc crossed 230 seats, challenging expectations and exit poll predictions.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has secured a third term, but the BJP will need support from coalition partners Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu.
Meanwhile, the opposition INDIA bloc will meet on June 5 at Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge’s house. After doing well in the Lok Sabha elections, the INDIA bloc leaders will plan their next steps.
