Chirag Paswan, the chief of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP), was sworn in as a union minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on Sunday. Paswan expressed his gratitude to PM Modi for trusting him with the position.

After being sworn in as a Union Minister in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government on Sunday, Chirag Paswan, the chief of LJP (Ram Vilas), said he’ll do his job with honesty and hard work. He thanked PM Modi for trusting him.
Paswan said, “This is a big responsibility for me. I’ll make sure to fulfill it with honesty and hard work. I owe this to the Prime Minister. Despite having just one MP, he trusted us with 5 seats, which we won.”
He also mentioned, “In the last 10 years, the government has focused on schemes for the welfare of the poor. We’ll continue that to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor, and between rural and urban areas.”
Chirag Paswan scored a big win in Bihar’s Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, beating RJD’s Shiv Chandra Ram by over 1.70 lakh votes.
In addition to Chirag Paswan, PM Modi included seven MPs from Bihar in his council of ministers, with four of them from allied parties. This move is seen as the BJP’s effort to balance caste equations ahead of next year’s assembly elections.
Uttar Pradesh and Bihar seem to have the highest representation in PM Modi’s new cabinet, while Maharashtra, which is heading for assembly polls, also has significant representation.
Uttar Pradesh, which sends the most MPs, has nine ministerial positions, including one Cabinet minister, while Bihar has secured four Cabinet positions out of a total of eight ministers from the state.
